Independent Study Policy

Please contact the Attendance Office or your teacher to complete the Independent Study Contract.

Any student that will need to be out of school for an extended period of time, 5 or more days, can be placed on Independent Study.

Requesting Homework when student is absent

When  calling to clear your child's absence please let the office know that you would like to pick - up homework for the day. All homework requests are placed in the teacher's mail box and processed at teachers convenience so please be sure to call after school to check if the homework has been sent up.

Tardy Policy

Students must be on school grounds by 8:00 am ready to line up and proceed to class.

All students arriving to school after the 8:00 am bell are considered tardy and must check in with Attendance Office to receive a tardy slip before proceeding to class.  


When a child is absent from school please send a note of explanation with them on the day they return to school.  This note should be taken directly to Attendance Office or turned in to your child's teacher.
The note should contain the following information:
(1) the date(s) your child was absent from school
(2) the reason your child was absent
(3) the signature of parent or guardian
These absence notes are important to our record keeping.  Remember, excused absences include, illness, death of an immediate family member, and doctor or dental appointment only.  you may also call or email the Attendance Office directly to clear absences

Absence Policy

The following is a list of reasons are not considered ACCEPTABLE reasons for being absent from school and are considered TRUANCIES or UNEXCUSED ABSENCES during the regular school year.


  1. Going to work with parent or other family member

  2. Going to the beach, lake, river, mountains or desert
  3. Going to a concert or movie
  4. Babysitting, taking care of other family members
  5. Personal problems
  6. Repairing car or household items
  7. Waiting for service or repair people to arrive
  8. Shopping
  9. Camping
  10. Attending a sporting event
  11. Bus not available/missing bus
  12. Participating in a student demonstration


Acceptable Reasons for Excused Absences 

  1. Personal illness (school may require a doctor's note verifying absence )
  2. Quarantine under the direction of a health officer.
  3. Student medical, dental, optometric, or chiropractic appointment.
  4. Funeral services for a member of the immediate family (limited to one day in state, and three days out of state).
  5. Personal court appearance (requires verification).
  6. Employment in the entertainment industry for a maximum of five absences per school year.
  7. Observance of a religious holiday or ceremony (recommend three days advance notice to school).


All absences must be cleared and verified with the attendance office within 5 school days or the absence becomes an unexcused absence or truancy .
